In today’s world, there’s two defining eras: the pre-pandemic and the new-normal era.

The pandemic meant a number of things for the recruitment function: there were hiring freezes, there were layoffs, and there was rapid, immediate, and successful Digital Transformation. 

And while the world went into the adaptation mode, we, being iMocha-ites, went into the innovation mode. 

Looking at these changing realities, we decided to prepone the launch of Live Coding Interview feature from December 2020 to June 2020. In a nutshell, it did one thing: translate the in-person live coding to an online environment.

Traditional technical interviews had a few defining elements: candidates coded in front of the interviewers, where interviewers often gave them nudges in the right direction.

This setup proved two of candidates’ abilities: whether they can code and how they think when they’re faced with a problem. We knew we had to reimagine this set up, and empower both interviewers and candidates when we do so.

Which is why our platform has an in-built code editor, which comes replete with over 20 programming languages, predefined code stubs for each language and question, and a feature to switch languages on the go.

This platform allows space for collaboration between interviewers, and gives them the agency to do real-time coding assessments.

This platform uses new-age technology like SignalR Service to ensure videos, text chat, and the coding environment is in sync for all participants. 

Recognizing this innovation, Microsoft featured us the startup “reimagining the way the world hires tech talent”. 

It noted how Live Coding Interview isn’t just a feature for the pandemic, but a feature that will continue to make the lives of recruiters and interviewers easier post the pandemic as well. 

In the words of our CEO, Amit Mishra, "Live Coding Interview is not just a reimagination of whiteboard coding interviews, it is a reimagination for the age of Digital Transformation".
